This one's built with a flat bar since I already have one Bianchi road bike. I chose Shimano pedals even if other parts are Italian so that I could use the same shoes and cleats as with my other bikes.

The handlebar & stem look quite thick compared to the frame... if anyone knows about better alternatives (preferably polished silver colour & Italian made), please tell me!

maybe try getting a threaded fork? this would lead you to a stem that's better fit for the lines of the frame and appropriate bars would follow.
good idea; i'm slowly building a cannondale r300 this same way (flat bars, gears, etc)
you should post a drive-side shot. i'd love to see it!
