Is there the necessary recess behind the outer chainwheel -like there would be on the standard cranks- for a 2nd, inner one ? If yes, toss more coins. The only things that do not really convince me here right now, are stem, saddle and pedals - and of course that current brake lever.

If its coins that you are gonna toss, friction DT shifters will perfectly do.

Actually I have seen this frame assembled with dual control levers positioned on the handlebars, featuring indexed shifting and the shifting cable that stays in the bosses in which the friction shifters usually go. I guess this adds to the amount of coins I will need. By the way, that is a great saddle!

Looks like it's a fixed gear? If so, you should have gone with a front brake, which provides close to 70% of total braking power compared to a rear. It would look better and definitely work better.
