Looks familiar...

If I remember correctly, I knew someone with one just like this years ago in Bklyn, NY - "John S_____" was his name. I wonder if you knew him.

No, I do not know.

look -and lock- it up

Look up 'Ferry Dusika' from Vienna. There are hints that at least some of these bikes, sold under that label, could have been in fact italian-made by 'Atala'. Your bike, however, seems to have undergone a well-done restauration - Where did the 1957 dating come from ? If you ride the velodrome, why not convert it into a real track bike ?

Whatever you do, make sure that your pictures filenames are unique, and consider to get rid of that weird single brake lever, i.e. replace it -for road use- with a set of 'vintage' aero road levers. Calipers, btw, might look better in silver here. You could, of course, also remove cranks, brakes etc. and convert it into a 'scooter'...

Brake levers are the only way I enjoy this bike. I can not ride fixed gear. I agree that should be changed to something more authentic and I'll take care of it, I promise.

One more thing, the bike is not restored, has authentic paint.
