My day to day beater.
Aquila was an italian bike manufacturer that, as far as I have gathered, stopped making bikes in the 1980's. I found this bike in a garage in a small town near Stockholm, Sweden. The former owner had inherited the bike from his uncle, an old cop that loved and raced bikes in the 70's an 80's.

The tubes are Columbus. Gears are a Campagnolo Victory/super record-mashup. Wheels are Mavic + Spidel hubs. Crankset: Ofmega with Campagnolo C-record pedals. The brakes are Shimano 600, so a crazy mix between european and japanese components which wasn't all that uncommon among the racers of the time.

What's your impression of

What's your impression of the giro tire? I know as far as tubulars go they are cheap, but I have had great luck with them on one of my wheelsets.

Nice Mashup

That's a beater with style. I bet it rides smooth as well.

That's a pretty sweet

That's a pretty sweet beater! I wonder what that virgin white tape looks like after a week of commuting..

Well, dirty grey as the snow

Well, dirty grey as the snow in the background I'm afraid. Good thing I get the tape for almost nothing :)

Probably still looks very

Probably still looks very cool. How's the braking? Are those vintage brake pads as well?
We should all commute on tubulars imo :)

Btw I think the seat post is a Laprade, by SR.

You're probably right about

You're probably right about the seatpost, never figured that part out my self. Well commuting on tubes has it's disadvantages, even if last spring/summer season only resulted in one flat (!). Worst part of the year is winter since the streets here in Sweden are filled with mini gravel. Takes it's toll on the tires.
Brake pads are ok but I like the new school brake levers on my De Rosa better :)
