Suntour command shifters

Definitely want a full report on the shifter setup. Have always been interested in the Command a.k.a. butterfly shifters.

Briefly, from riding it to

Briefly, from riding it to work & home & back mainly with hands on the hoods, a thumb and a middle or ring finger can push the rear derailleur shifter around pretty easily, but we'll see what happens on trails Monday.

I like.

How does it ride?

How it rides?

I will find out on Monday and report back!
I have no MTB experience at all except for one day riding trails on a Surly Ogre, I imagine this might be similar.

Super fun!

Had a great time riding this around some dirt paths today, got a few ant bites tho.
The shifters are kinda clunky (and my chain sometimes pops over teeth in some gears because it's new and the Suntour freewheel is old) but the rear derailleur shifter was reasonably usable with right thumb and index finger from the hood. It felt pretty much like bar-end or thumb shifters... "Suntour Quasi-Integration".
The front derailleur shifter was a little trickier and I had to push it way over to get to the big chainring. But that might be resolved with some cable adjustment.

the bike handles real steady with the front wheel all the way back in the dropout. Haven't tried it in the longer wheelbase (lower trail??) setting.
