(sorry for lousy pics) Very cool Dutch bike from Voorburg - The Hague - by Ton & John van Herwerden. The shop opened in 1898 and untill somewhere in the eighties they made their own frames. This one, being from 1982, I'm not sure of they made it themselves. The cutout triangles in the lugs seems to be made by hand and the almost wraparound seatstays also points to a handbuild. The Portacatena dropout were just about done for at that time I guess though.

After the 'pullup-method' (polish & wax job), again, the paint came back to life. The colour is very nice silvergrey, though the pics don't really show (angles suck but I wanted horses in the shot).>UPDATE: new pics
Also the GS parts have less chrome than NR, for instance the brakecaliper parts, and are 'easily' polished with certain cleaning products. Gran Sport seems to be quality stuff, cause this bike's quite old and well ridden, but the ride is still exquisite and everything runs smoothly! I must say the former owner didn't clean it often but he didn't butcher it either. Thank god for fresh and affordable campy brakeleverhooods and long stems.

And a heads up, shave your legs!
You didn't ride Haarlem?
;-)

Hey Johnny!

Shaving my legs was a once in lifetime experience (and never again, itch!).

I was hoping to see you in Haarlem, but I didn't see you. I was surprised to see it on your blog. I guess I should have contacted you beforehand (to tell what I was going to be wearing ;) ). There were way more people than expected, which was a good thing, but probably the reason we didn't meet...

ahh, I ended up get lost,

ahh, I ended up getting lost, even though I had a Del Tongo jersey on (
did you do the 80 Km ?

Haha we got lost as well,

Haha we got lost as well, but modern equipment in the shape of an iphone brought us back on track. We missed the ride through the dunes though, which was supposedly the most beautiful part of the ride (must have been longer than 80km). I remember seeing a yellow Del Tongo on a guy with a slick vintage haircut ;) I was wearing a yellow Büttgen jersey btw. Let's get together for a ride soon!

if the slick guy looked like

if the slick guy looked like mr bean, than it was me
were the dunes in Blomendaal or Santpoort area? I 'train' there
It was the first event, so had marshaling issues
