I have had this bad boy since 1992 , has lot of love and tlc . Until this day it has never failed me once . i also use it on the road with slicks on group rides , excellent for training days. it may be old but gets more attention than most other bikes i guess cause of the color and age. The 2 original IRC RACER X1 tires i have boxed up in the attic . i have it pictured with different saddles .

87-88 are my favorite vintages of C'dale.
I have a SM400 frame slowly being built up (same frame as this: u-brake in the rear and tall headtube, 26ers, but in robins shell blue). I look forward to having it in riding condition, but it will have modern bits on her.
Thanks for sharing this and I'd love to see a pic with slicks! :-)

You will love it once you are done with the project!! The color you are picking is very nice as well, will stand out. Try to keep the original parts if you can, but who can resist modern!! i have had this bike since 92 and rides great and never had any problems yet(knocking on wood). here is a link to the original catalog of your bike on this website if you are interested, can give you allot of ideas too, good luck with build! http://www.vintagecannondale.com/catalog.html .
