buyer was originally asking way over two grand, talked for a while and finally went to see it.
Tip- when asking top dollar make sure its clean, there is air in the tires and the shifters function.
Took it home for well under a price I felt comfy with, gave it a thorough cleaning, lube and adjust. replaced a missing screw that stopped rear from up shifting and Bam.
ALL American 56 stable is full.

might be a Terry?

2K

It's a 2000 model year. You can tell it's a late model klein from the decals on the downtube, wider spacing. Nice ride.

I though 1998, thanks for the info, the way the cable routing is done is so nice compared to other high end aluminum with a shaped plastic adapter.

I love Kleins and this one

I love Kleins and this one looks sharp as a razor.

Nice grab -- saw this advertised somewhere

The 6500 is a nice group too! Is it in good shape or might this end up with a contemporary group some day? B-)
Sexy frame -- Kleins rule. Thanks for sharing

Nice Score

Your Klein looks pretty clean. Love the paint job.

Damn nice man, I sure do miss my quantum.

The work that went into tube shaping

Is unreal on a mass production basis. If I remeber correctly, the tubes were basically flattened, then welded prior to heat treating while held on an alignment jig. I think Cannondale perfected a similar process for thier simple oversize tubed frames.
I've only taken it up and down the street, but there is a differnt aggresive ride quality that is noticable.

Also the best welds on any

Also the best welds on any Alu frame ever. Not to mention out of this world paintjobs. and this is one of the earliest manufacturers of race grade alu. Plus you got yourself one of the later full internal cable routing frames. What a gem.

Welds

Better than late 80s-early 90s Cannondale welds? The welds on my '89 crit frame put my dad's Quantum Race (same paint scheme as this bike) and Q Pro XX to shame. Don't get me wrong they're both sweet american made frames, but I don't find the welds to be particularly epic (although they are light years ahead of the welds on my GT Pulse). Maybe they are just later post-Trek frames. Still love the paint jobs though.

Most of my C'dales have welds...

That were filed with a small pnuematic belt sander, other builders liked to show of the ability of the welders skills. As someone who does a bit of welding, I appreciate the "stack of dimes" look of a skilled artisans bead. Same goes for the TIG's on Titanium frames.
