How do you like the Plante-X

How do you like the Plante-X Brake Calipers? I've been looking at them since the price is unbeatable for their weight.

I think they're great.

I think they're great. They're not as fit & forget as the major brands' dual pivot calipers; they will need recentering from time to time, the little barrel that holds to cable is awkward to tighten enough to feel totally confident and unless you're running Campag with quick release built into the shifter, you have no quick release although you can work around this by setting them up so that with the pads in the desired position the barrel adjuster is about half in/out. Then you can loosen off the cable a little when you want to change wheel and unhook the cable clamp from the arm of the caliper.

I'm running them with Swiss Stop green pads and when set up properly I can't really tell any real world difference in performance between these and DA 7900. Except they're 2/3 the weight and 1/2 the cost!

I think I'm going to pick up a pair if I can't find some used Feathers on eBay for the same price. One more question: how do you like the Rotor Q rings? I've been reading up on them a bit but have you actually noticed any difference in performance?

I love them, though I am

I love them, though I am prepared to accept that there may be a large dose of placebo in my impressions, but they way I figure it, even if that's the case, I feel better and happier riding with them than without, so placebo or real, they're worth it.

The impression I get riding them is that I'm more comfortable turning over the gear in a steady high cadence state, whether that's spinning up a climb in a tiny gear or spinning a massive gear when in TT mode. It just feels like my pedal stroke is smoother and easier. Like imagine when you're turning a gear that's fractionally too big and you're starting to go from pedalling circles toward mashing the up/down part of the stroke, then you knock down one gear and you can start pedalling more fluidly again at a smoother, higher cadence and because of that you can go the same speed you were doing in the higher gear, but more comfortably. It feels a lot like that.

Whether it's BS or not, I have no idea. I can say for certain though, after riding them, all rings I buy for all my geared bikes from now on will be Q-rings.

Live the setup, color and that bar drop. I think you've got me beat on that front until I can get a -17 ritchey for the tcr

Absolutely wonderful bike, but that slam-dunked set up has my back aching just looking at it!
