DIA - COMPE

my beautiful French. This is my first retro bicycle and I love it at first sight. For technical reasons it had to replace the wheels and saddle, other parts (except wires) are original. If you know more about it than you see above - please tell me.

Very lovely bike. I don't

Very lovely bike. I don't need another bike but know of someone selling one of these Prestiges and this one has one of the old Motobecane head badges, baseball home plate shaped. I don't doubt it's a great bike. I'd say from the decal work and head badge on your bike, it is cerca a 1982 bike but for some reason, there are a number of Nomades, Mirages, Jubilees out there but Prestiges seem rarer.

I wonder if your bike has the screw in for the saddle in the back. Not easy to describe, Motobecane were about the only ones who did this. My '82 Mirage does not have a seat clamp but the adjustable seat with holes in the saddle post. Not sure if that was the best innovation but it makes it quaint.

Thank you, raleigh, I love

Thank you, raleigh, I love my bike even more when i learn more about it :) Unfortunately, for technical reasons it had to replace the wheels and saddle (new photos above). As for the screws in the seat post, I think I know this solution, but my Motobecane not have it - has a simple clamp seatpost - see it here: http://goo.gl/q7DSP
