For its age, its in excellent shape. Rides beautifully smooth. If anyone can tell me a bit about Joe Gardin / Gardin bikes I would appreciate it. I know he moved to Canada from Italy and made frames in Ontario but not much otherwise. Debating selling it to buy a Bianchi.

I could be wrong but I think it's Joe Gardin.

Yep, right you are! (edited)

I got to know Joe quite well

I got to know Joe quite well back in the 80's when I was still in university. He treated me very well and was a true gentleman with me. I have also heard some not so nice things about him. He never built a frame in his life. He was an entrepreneur. He made his money selling and servicing fork lifts. He was however a life-long bicycle enthusiast. He set up a deal with the Italian component manufacturer Rino and set up the company Cambio Rino. When the relationship went sour, he set up Gardin bikes. He had an Italian builder come over and run the production. The bikes were not that bad, but nothing close to Marinoni and others that were available at the same time. They were good honest bikes at fair prices. He sponsored some top notch riders in Canada and the US and I believe at least one world championship was won on one of his bikes.
