Got this bike used from Downey Cyclery (no longer there) for when I had my license suspended a while back. Rode it for like a year but lost interest... And then last year I was rummaging through the clearance bin of Performance Bicycles and found a pair of SRAM index shifters. They're a bit heavier but I slapped them on and work fairly well. Good strong commuter, sturdy frame. Rear cantilever brake Dia Compe (maybe I'll find some Deore online). According to Sheldon Brown, Bridgestone bikes "have earned some what of a cult status." Haven't done any hard downhill riding but as long as there's a trail, probably a good downhill racer.
