By Richard Evans President Portsmouth North End Cycling Club:
"Regarding the F H Grubb, the original owner was Denny Williams, locally known as Willy.
from the now extinct Portsmouth C C, great rivals of the North End in the Track League
Hay days.of 1946 to the late 1950's
Colors.--Front forks , rear seat and chain stays Gold, main body Dark Royal Blue.
Fast forward to 1951, posted from RAF Yatesbury No 2 Radio School to RAF St Athens.
On arrival , directed to my Billet , propped out side, Willy's Freddy Grubb !!!!!
And in the next Billet Haydn Cobley a North Ender.
Willy and myself represented RAF St Athens in the inter services Track Championship at
Herne Hill , curtsey of an Avro Anson, dropping us off a North Holt aerodrome.
Willy died young, so the frame was passed on to a Southern Olympic rider, he also died young,
so it finally arrived at John Martin's door, thus braking the Jinks".
