Should I repaint this frame or not? This is the original color scheme: http://www.flickr.com/photos/steelyfan/5476235142/in/set-72157626008406885

nooooo!

Dont repaint it. Ever. That blue is beautiful! What a nice bike.

Looks Great

Repaint it and you will not only decrease its value, but lose much of the frame's history. You are lucky it wasn't spray bombed or badly scratched up.

WAIT.... WHAT?! 2 identical bikes, showing up on Velospace one after the other... under different profiles, but different pics?

is there something wierd here, or just coincidence?

either way, sweet bike!

2 dutch guys, same hometown, balk is a dutch bikeshop that delivered frames to velodrome amsterdam, the frames were made by merckx. about 3 years ago the velodrome decided to upgrade most their bikes to giant's and about 30 of these frames were sent back to balk and came on dutch aunction sites etc. most of them are riding around the dutch streets nowadays.

When I saw the photo of the

When I saw the photo of the two bikes side by side I said to myself "looks like a velodrome cleaned house" I was right!

I would

let it the way it is. if you would change the colour it would not become an original, but it is now. beside I prefere the actual colour scheme.

I have the same frame

I have the same frame although i really love it, i'm considering selling it (because i have too much now). Repaint will up the value of the frame i guess, but the market in the Netherlands for expensive branded frames is pretty bad. So i'm still in doubt to do this..

repaint rarely increases the value of a frame... unless it's really beat up.... leave the paint as is....

they are identical to the

they are identical to the cromor in any way a friend of mine did a respray a while ago; http://specialpaintwork.nl/images/gallery/diverseframes/971%20eddy%20merckx.jpg sure did up the value about 200% not to mention it looks great ;p

@bettermade

Im from The Hague and I also wanted to repaint the frame at special paintwork. But I am afraid that the colorscheme your friend used is not the way these frames should look.

mwaap

I love to "read" Dutch aloud.

I just read all these comments aloud to my girlfriend (assuming some of the zounds are similar to Norwegian :-). Thanks for that. Nice bikes. (My favorite cellist is Dutch: Pieter Wispelwey. I saw him perform in Almere and it was probably the highlight of my life...)
