upgraded to (almost) full 7800 from 7400/7410 etc 8 speed. decided on the ultegra to open pro because i could not find 7800 36h open pros, when i did 9.5/10 times they were beat to shit. friend suggested that i use a sram force cassette rather the 7800 cassette because it shifts a lot smoother. after testing i agree 100% with him. this is the only cannondale i've seen with a 1-1/4 headtube.

Such a sweet looking ride.

Love Cannondales. I have two a Black Lightning and a Saeco. The rides on these older machines are so smooth and acceleration is brilliant, even by todays standards.

Great looking build.
Thanks for sharing.

Kindest regards

The 7800 looks great!

I agree with everyone this looks awesome. I think even the 80s Cannondales look good with modernized components. ...I think you'll find quite a few 1-1/4th" headsets out there on C'dales, as they pushed for it to be the new standard, esp in MTBs, but you'll notice it on the silk-roads as well (mainly to accommodate the headshock, but also the sub-one fork on the R-series bikes). Thanks for sharin this beaut!

Thanks! now i know what the

Looks like a 1" headtube not 1 1/4

it's 1-1/4 lol

it's 1-1/4 lol

Definitely 1-1/4" head tube...why?

...because your model is a Cannondale R900 which is the only 2.8 series road frame that came with the same 1-1/4' head tube that was included on their mountain bikes.

I also have a R900 in 63cm that i'm having painted (black pearl hyper-highlight) later this month along with a new 1-1/8" carbon fiber fork (utilizing problem solver 1-1/4" to 1-1/8" head tube adapter). I'll post it when it's completed.

Thank you, learned something

Thank you, learned something new about the bike. I will for sure keep a look out for yours.
