Originally built as a Dura Ace 10 pitch, I aquired this 1983 bike in 1994. It started life as a sponsored bike belonging to David Grylls. 1984 Olympian and one of a few Americans invited to participate in Japanese Keirin circuit. It later resurfaced as a Interbike booth display for 3rensho in 1989. Mr Konno loved that venue! I got it thru a friend who had industry connections and later worked on Project '96 for the Atlanta Olympic track events.
Please enjoy the pics. I have more that I'm willing to send to any PM's

stunning...

what's the story with the brake hole cap? haven't seen that before, but it's a great idea. I'm guessing that was drilled and placed by 3Rensho after it's racing career was over?

"drilling"

Have talked to a lot of builders and heres a synopsis on brake holes.
Most fork crowns and rear brake bridges were investment cast with the holes for brake installation included. Sometimes a customer would request the the hole be filled with brazing material for a cleaner "track" look.
Too many people emphasize that since thier bike does not have brake holes, it is a true track bike. But- especially on the kierin circuit, bikes have bottle bosses and cable guides added on training bikes,as well as the use of very rare and special hubs that have the ability to lock or unlock the freewheel depending on training objectives.
To the point regarding the inserts, as stated, this bike came back into the hands of Yoshi and he added it last minute as a dispay bike at the Reno interbike, and some booth bling was added. He gave away tie clips, key chains, cuff links and other items to special customers and reps made from actual parts.
By the way if anyone has an extra key chain made from a chromed seat stay cap shoot me a price!!!

Bummer...

Not sure what the problem is. I used the reccomended site to edit the photos down, and posted them using the suggestion to use unique names so I don't get anoth LeMond creditted to me. LOL Used the contact us form but haven't heard back. I don't see pictures on any of the three attempts.

Ishiwata 022, smaller frames used Ishiwata 019, same to the delineation of SLX an SL depending on frame size and specific tube.
