it's a Raleigh Randonneur - clearly from a time when they were still making better quality handbuilt frames - it's got nice-enough plain lugwork (which i've lined in gold) and a very pretty fork crown. one of my favourite features on the frame is a triple spoke-holder braze-on on the non-drive chainstay which ironically don't fit any of the three different lengths of spoke on those wheels :)

i've read that 708 is lighter but not as stiff as 531ST and similar in material to 753 but heavier-gauge and with an octagonal internal profile. anyway, i've yet to try it fully loaded but it seems to ride beautifully.
