Tiagra 9-speed STI + Shimano 600-Utegra (tri-color)

Shimano long reach (ultegra level)

Weighs in at 21 lbs as shown. Debating whether I should do 9 speed bar ends rather than STI. Less convenient, but simpler and not as much maintenance. I have small hands too so STI levers are a little long for me. Front shifting with Shimano also sucks compared to Campy.

Personally

for me, for shifting I like either downtube and just not shift much, or newer campy trigger shifters. If I went downtube I would probably get some kind of older suntour set-up on friction mode.

I am not a fan of downtube

I am not a fan of downtube unless it's trying to keep the bike original. No problem using them, but if I were doing any kind of hard riding, I like the convenience. I think bar ends are superior in that respect. Shimano STI doesn't feel as positive as the other systems. I'll agree the Campy ergo is the beez kneez though.
