i was used to clips from my road bike but decided to try straps. i think it makes dealing with the toe overlap a little easier.

i think i like them better than clips now. they're strong. the only time getting in and out was difficult was when it was pouring out since they don't keep their shape very well when wet. they help with overlap since you can predict when you'll need to move your foot back a little bit in tight turns. works well enough.

didn't cut it

i ended up replacing it with a 100mm stem with a slightly shorter quill when i installed flat bars. i think it's pretty much at the right height now.
