There is an old saying - every serious roadie will own a Colnago at least once in a lifetime . . .

Nice modern classic there!

Nice modern classic there! Always love to see a tasteful build ala steel.

So what's the verdict on the mavic ssc calipers? Mavic makes them sound like total game changers but I am skeptical. Also I see there are no qr's on the clamp so looks like you need to undo the bolt in order to take off the wheels. Does that bother you or does the low weight make up for it overall?

Mavic SSC

No need for QR when you have Campy levers - and I did not like the look of the modern skelton look of the new Campy. As brakes, they are smooth and powerful. You gotta see these brakes in person - they are a work of art - I love the exposed chrome return "spring"

Right I forgot ergos open

Right I forgot ergos open like cane creeks. Consensus seems to be that the only real weakness is that hardware isn't stainless for some reason. To be fair they can justify cutting corners at that pricepoint (as in manufactured in China..) Still I would like to try them against my sram calipers (which are fairly top notch).

pretty damn impressive bike

pretty damn impressive bike you got there.

im wondering why you chose eggbeaters rather than a road-specific pedal though. no criticism, just wondering...

I use them mainly because I ride my bike to and from the gym and I discovered that eggbeaters combined with MTB specific shoes have a deeper recess than more typical SPDs. For seriouy rides, I don my SIDIs and install my 7810 Dura Ace pedals - which makes the bike eevn more appealing.

True true. I just wouldn't

True true. I just wouldn't think anyone would ever lock up a beauty like that outside ha ha.

c'mon, I want to see what
