Springs in saddle + Bum fat!

I built this bike up for my girlfriend over the summer. it was quite difficult finding a mixte frame that fitted her (as she's only 5 ft tall), but this fits, and rides wonderfully smoothly. She wants a basket on the front though, and I'm trying (in vain) to persuade her that it would spoil its lovely clean lines. Practicality eh? What a bummer.

The frame is made from Reynolds 453, apparently a manganese-titanium alloy! Not that you'd notice mind, it's pretty jolly hefty (apparently it was Reynolds' bottom of the barrel tubeset, oh well). It's flexy too, but it does look rather nice in the sunshine, and it's very comfortable to ride. The brakes are quite nice as well. I hadn't come across CLB brakes before, and they looked a bit worse for wear initially, but after a polish and new pads, they now stop just fine. They have a quirky square barrel on their front, and a neat little quick release system too which I liked.

Any ideas on nice looking baskets or panniers?

Nantucket Bicycle Basket

Really nice mixte build.

Nantucket Bicycle Basket are solid but pricey. And will match the Brooks saddle. REI has em so if yur a member, wait for the 20% coupon. Nice leather straps & brass name plate. They also have quick release "handled" models so she could take it with her so it doesn't get stolen. I have one w/o handles (CISCO) on my Peugeot mixte which is a loaner bike for my female friends. Girls love it.REI pics dont show the brass name plate but all Nantuckets come with them. Check pics on :

Meijer puts em on sale too.

Marin Mill Valley

Nice mixte..

my own mixte build is giving me fits. (the French....)
Maybe she'll compromise and get a round leather handlebar bag, but if not, I'd say try something like a brown canvas bag with a wire internal frame. It could match the saddle and grips a bit, not too bulky, and if you put a bottom in it, will hold a 6-er.
