Found on ebay in terrible shape, but endearing in its aspect of decay. I've put it in (barely) ride-able shape while I decide how to proceed with its journey back to splendor!

You Like A Challenge!

Changing out the cranks and french Bottom Bracket is where I would start too.Did you know the Hosteller was later named the Alpine around 1973 simply by covering up the Hosteller name printed on the catalog and applying an adhesive cutout panel imprinted with the Alpine moniker. You can still easily read the Hosteller "hidden" underneath.

Hosteler/Alpine

Hi Velogarden, no I never had even heard of the Hostler until maybe a year ago when I came across the old catalogs on the GitaneUSA site. Those are worth a look if you haven't seen them. The Gitane I'd love to find someday is the Grand Touring!

Gran Tourisme

Check out the E-bay store of vintage-bike. They have for sale what looks like it could be a GT.The chromed rear stays indicate something special is being offered.

Hi Velogarden,

Just got back on after a week or so... I can't seem to find the store you mention- do you have the URL handy? Thx! I guess the bike is probably gone, but worth a look anyway.
