Awesome bike bought off ebay for $ 360 ($ 325 w/o shipping). Vintage steel doesn't get much better. Sold it to a friend as soon as I tuned it up, a decision I've regretted ever since. It felt wonderful to ride, springy, stiff, and responsive. Weighed about 23 lb with bathroom scale. Could be made quite a bit lighter with some upgrades, including the original Suntour Sprint derailleur.

EDIT:

I bought it back from my friend in Feb. 2011. It was conveniently after my Trek 1500 (also on my site) was stolen. I upgraded it with some 3ttt handlebars I'd found off another bike, a nice stem off ebay, and a lighter used seatpost from the bike shop. One of the pictures shows it stock. I got so many flats at first that I switched to the tire combination I have now, and I've mostly been fine. It's now my main ride.

It's very maneuverable, feels agile and is comfortable to ride. The geometry is great, and it looks amazing. I'll eventually get a proper rear derailleur, but for now, the cheap replacement works really well. It weighs 23 1/2 lb as pictured.

You can see the original catalog specifications at trfindley.com.

Serial number I635072. Says 0297 on head badge. It was built in the unprofitable Greenville, MS plant, and is one of the last American-built Schwinns.

I really like this bike, along with your other steel machines and the great notes you provide. Thanks for helping keep velospace interesting.

Beautiful bike

ATB That is an awesome Schwinn.

nice Circuit.

Great geometry on that bike. Your friend can certainly turn that into a modern-thumping rocket if h wants to...
