This would be a perfect winter bike for someone other than me. You could ride sheet ice with this bike and stay upright.

IRO Rob Roy frame, now out of production -- IRO no longer makes a dedicated ss/fg cross bike. This is special orange color available through group buy a few years ago.

Front drum brake is fantastic. Fully enclosed, beats even disc brakes for protection from weather. 90mm brake is plenty powerful, although still not disc brake power.

Real star of the show is the s3x fixed cog hub out back -- three speeds, no coasting. Yar!

Nokian Hakka 240s have 240 carbide studs for grip on snow and ice, they also have a fairly aggressive tread to them.

VO Pass Hunter rack up front for convenience and utility.

I had this built up with a Nexus 8sp hub as my regular commuter, but recently got a crosscheck to replace it. New build on the used frame. For sale, contact with questions or for more details, price, pix, etc.

I own that now.

I bought this bike from Mike on Ebay and it's a sick build. I ended up having him build me another straight-up flip flop wheel for the rear (did a 20T cog as the bike is a little heavy for me), swapped out the bull horns for risers, put on some slightly nicer pedals and cages, and added some fenders. With the studded tires this thing is sick in the winter. I've got some kenda kwickers on it right now for summer time commuting. It's much slower/heavier than my normal daily rider. I ride it in bad weather or on rides with my girlfriend.

Wow... that's cool.

Don't know why particularly, but that is just cool... I think I'd want a rear brake as well in the winter but other than that, it looks to have very high function. ...perhaps a rear rack to make use of those canti-studs. Thanks for sharing
