Picked this frame up as NOS at a greatly discounted price. The NR 70ss bottom bracket I intended to install was too short on the drive side for the modern 130mm rear spacing.
Phil Wood to the rescue with a +4mm asymetric bottom bracket. The black hubs were an indulgence beyond the necessary BB

Details

The little details on this are amazing, this is my now my favorite quill stem.

Modolo Stem

I've heard things about those stems structurally failing under heavy torque. Careful!

Beautiful build.

That's why the Madonna is there!

i like your bikes! good

i like your bikes! good ideas, how to restore classic steel frames! Not period correct, but very independent.

Stunning

Absolutely stunning!

How does the Brain tubing ride?

Guerciotti Brain

Personally I feel it's build geometry that contributes more to the ride characteristics. The rear triangle is very tight with minimal tire-seat tube clearance.Plus the bottom bracket shell has reinforcement gussets all around which supposedly stiffens the bottom end. This bike wastes no energy.
I guess I'd need to have an identical frame built with another Columbus tubing to accurately compare. My 185 lbs. on a frame this big feels good.No fatigue beyond the norm in the hands or tush even after 5 hours.

smart handling?
