Lovely British made frame & fork by Mercian, hand painted and painted & lug lined throughout. Frame number is 77572 and the name 'Eric Bishop' is painted on the fork steerer.

Nice Mercian!

What a cool paint job!

A serial number of 77572 would actually suggest the 775th frame built in 1972.

Often times there is another number stamped on the bottom bracket shell opposite the serial number that is the builder number. Of course, the name painted on the steerer tube might also be the frame builer?

In any case, gorgeous bike!

re: Nice Mercian!

Thanks for the comments! I've had it confirmed by Mercian that it's a 1977 build. The other number on the frame is 5, which I've been told refers to Derek Land. My guess is Eric Bishop is either a/ the customer or b/ the painter! It is lovely and I'm very happy to own it!
