Very Nice

Nice build, even the swallow saddle.

Are the decals on the seat tube original?

not decals:

This frame is a collaboration between Cinelli, RVCA, and the artist Barry McGee. RVCA is an art & fashion company in San Francisco - in 2008 they teamed up with Cinelli to produce a small run of bikes and frames in collaboration with a few contemporary artists.

Here is Cinelli's press release about the frame

One quote from an article in the link above: "This is not the first time Cinelli has figured in an artist’s work, some may remember the Keith Haring Laser pursuit bike circa 1987, but it is the first time a Cinelli Art bike will achieve production status."

My frame is one of 50 (25 full builds & 25 framesets) - after seeing the production build I decided that I'd rather part together my own mix of modern and vintage components to better compliment the lines of the frame. It has been a slow process and this wasn't my highest priority project so, now more than a year after I bought the frame, the full build is seeing the light of day. Also, many of the individual components were decades old and produced in limited numbers so sourcing new or lightly used versions of each item just took a long while.

As for the paint - it appears the the graphics and logos may be decals under the clearcoat. I'm no paint expert but I can say that there are no surface decals and that Barry McGee's artwork appears to be digitally rendered on the seat-tube due to what looks like pixelation.

That's a great story, I didn't know about it. Beautiful bike, very stylish. I envy you. :P

My Mind Is Blown

This is seriously one of my favorite, if not my favorite bike(s) on velospace!! That frame is so rad and I absolutely love how it looks with the saddle and bar-tape. That unbelievable wheelset helps so envious

very very nice, congrats!

First and foremost, congratulations on an amazing build! This is many a cyclist's dream ride.

It's clear that you put a good amount of time/thought/$$ into this, so I will nitpick. This thing needs a vintage campy headset and some proper cinelli pista bars/stem (2a). I'd say those are the only things keeping this build from absolute perfection. Just a thought.

Again, congrats and enjoy it!

sure but...

Thanks for the compliments and the nits:
- Anyone want to sell me a 2A pista stem with a Cinelli panto? Until then I like my XA.
- For the bars, this is a street build so the I prefer the shallower drop of the Criterium bars.
- The headset came with the frame and didn't fell the need to change it out although I do agree that the vintage headsets have a nicer look.

fair enough

didn't catch the cinelli pantograph before, def keep that thing haha.

logical choices on the other 2 counts as well. like i said, its an awesome build, and I have the same headset on my pride and joy, you really can't go wrong with campy record of any era.

bottom line: ride that thing and enjoy it.

this is amazing....
lucky to be you..

damn. that is all.

damn. that is all.
