Boring bike update: replaced the Campy group with Ultegra 6800 after I broke the nondriveside Campy arm in a crash. Was looking at the cost to replace the crankset and decided fuck it, a 6800 group on s-tec is only slightly more than buying a new Record crankset at cost. So there went my tax refund. In a way it was good, because the Campy big ring was starting to give me chain suck and I wanted to move to a midcompact anyway.
Shifting is less fun now, but more reliable. Midcompact gearing is cool. Pics 4 and 5 are the last shots I have before I took the surviving Campy bits off. I miss the shifting. Maybe I'll get a cross frame and cranks to use the shifters/derailers on, and relace the Record hubs to Mavic Reflexes. Or maybe I'll keep it all in a box underneath my bed forever. Who knows!
My carbon race wheels got stolen from underneath my bed when our house got burgled last December, so I don't have the wheels that go whoosh. It was a total bummer bro, especially because I had just relaced the rear wheel with an ENVE SES 7.0 rim after cracking the Reynolds rim in the Leesville Gap race back in July.
Oh yeah, and it's finally raining in NorCal.
