Seeing this bike brought

Seeing this bike brought back a lot of memories. I purchased a Benotto there in 1987. Domenic's was the place to go for all things Italian. They carried many lines including, F. Moser, Benotto, Colnago, Tommasini etc. If they didn't have it, they could probably get it for you. Domenic's was indeed a bike shop located on Mill Ave. in Tempe, across the steet from the ASU campus. This shop was closed a while back and they operate out of the Rural Rd. location now. The pictured bike was not made for the owner, but was an Italian made line created specifically for their shop in the 80's. Looking at the pictures I'd say the frame was constructed using Columbus SL or SLX. If memory serves, the Domenic's labeled bikes were built by the master Irio Tommasini in Grosetto Italy.

I live 2 miles from Doms; One of their mechanics named Robert Brownlee makes custom frames independently (and at times to sell in store) and has a great hand. He may have built this one or it could be before his time, he wouldn't have been the one to paint it though. Does it say "Brownlee" anywhere?

Domenic's steel

I seem to remember that Domenic had these made by Tommaso. I remember when he introduced these back in the late '80s.

Dom is a way cool guy. Very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he doesn't spend that much time in the shop any more. His wife pretty much runs it, and they've got some pretty decent guys that work there.

They closed down the shop that was on Mill Ave. for a long time, and moved everything to the shop on Rural Rd.

What used to be a totally awesome shop with lots of goodies for the racers, is now mainly a shop for the college students. Still though, they do carry some high end stuff. Just not as much as they used to, now that they're in a smaller place and a tougher economy.

I have seen this bike hanging in his shop.. I can ask Domenic more about it, he is a super rad guy here in Tempe that has been in the bike racing and business industry for a very long time with many championships under his belt himself.

It wasn't made for the owner of Domenics, Domenics actually had their own frames made to sell and several were produced. I've seen a few but seldom as nice as yours.

The shop is still around in Tempe, Arizona near the ASU campus on Mill Avenue.
