This is a very special bike for me. Born to be a racer, it was raced in Wisconsin in the late, mid 70s by the Harry Quinn Mercury Racing Team. I acquired it with full documentation of its history and with the cap and jersey that were used in the races including photographs and a newspaper clipping. Unfortunately, due to a burglary of my storage facility, I have lost all those precious details.
Constructed of Reynolds 531 and with detailed lugwork, it is a work of art. Its fastback seatstay makes this one solid ride.
I grew tired of the cheap red sheathing that made the brakes spongy so I went with the Campy ones that feel just right. Got rid of the Modolo hoods too. I like the original Campy World Globe Logos for this ride.
As of late Nov, 2010, this ride has been nearly completely redone so pics are in the works on the next sunny day I have free. New pics that are not as good as I hoped have been uploaded on the last day of the decade but show the updated work including Cinelli stem and bars which I find considerably more comfortable than the TTT setup, more comfortable Brooks Pro, cut to my likings, and a new set of wheels and tires. NOS Regina extra 12-17 freewheel and yellow highlighting throughout. As soon as I can find a Super Record 1st generation Seatpost and a Super Record Rear Derailleur 1st generation, this will be completed. I have NOS Old Logo Brake Hoods sitting in a box ready for this bike as well as my custom brake levers.
