Not positive of the model, but most likely a King of Mercia or Olympic. Frame was repaired and repainted by Mercian in winter 2009-1010. Mostly a period-correct build, with part being collected off eBay over a year or so. My first restoration. Not only is it beautiful, but this frame is one of the best riding bikes I have ever had.

peerless bicycle ... chapeau!

Gorgeous bike! I'm looking

Gorgeous bike! I'm looking for that bartape. It's the perfect red. Do you mind divulging?

looks like

Newbaum's cloth tape, though I can't say for sure.

By the way, have I ever mentioned how much I love this bike? It's one of those where I've probably tried to friend it 3 or 4 times. Simply awesome.

Thanks for the compliments y'all. Actually it's just Velox/Tressostar red cloth tape.

Fantastic build. Very

Fantastic build. Very clean.

Beautiful restoration with lots of nuovo record! Doesn't get a lot better...

A beautiful and classy ride.

A beautiful and classy ride. Very nice. Make sure you put as much time in riding it as you have in building it.

Love Your Bike

I lived in Derby (where Mercians are built) from 1963 to 75, and between the ages of 14 and 19 rode for Derby clubs. There were several clubs in the area, Derby Wheelers, Derby Mercury, South Pennine R.C., Mercia C.C., and Long Eaton Paragon, and most club riders had a Mercian somewhere in our stable. I started on the entry level Campionnissimo in emerald green, then moved up to a Superlight, but I also had an Olympique hack bike. Most people's bike of choice was the King of Mercia, and the shop would do lots of custom things if you asked. What with all the color and panel options they made available, no two bikes looked the same. I'd rather have your bike than anything new off the shelf today. Unfortunately, because I'm 6' 4", most bikes on the secondhand market are too small for me. I'm guessing yours would originally have been sold as a 24".
Well done. It's beautiful.

Thanks so much John! Great

Thanks so much John! Great story and history there. I do have quite an affinity for Mercians now, and would love to get a track bike from them at some point in the future. Thanks again and take care!

their track bikes are dope

their track bikes are dope and clean, i wish i had 1.5k to drop on a custom frame. :/

I'd sell my car to have this

I'd sell my car to have this bike. But, I'm 15 and don't have a car.
