I didn't really need another bike, but a friend was moving back to the US from Japan and asked me if there was anything I wanted her to get me before she left. I'm sure she meant a small trinket or something, but I had a better idea.

This is an NJS Reminton frame, a studio in Maebashi in the Gunma Prefecture (home of the Green Dome keirin track) that is no longer producing frames. I don't know much else about the builder.

The seat stay bridge and bottom bracket shell are engraved with the name "Shinya" and the track ends are engraved with "Kaneko".

I didn't originally plan on building it up all NJS but it's headed that way mostly because I love continuity in a build. Right now the wheelsets vary between the one pictured above and a set of high flange Phils laced to Velocity Aeros with an 18t Phil cog. I'm waiting on my hook-up to come through with some DA 7600s.

Right now this bike is seeing use mostly on the streets of Brooklyn, but with the track season about to get underway I'm planning on getting it out to Kissenna in Queens for some riding.

Teruo Kasuga

is the name of the frame builder of Reminton. He was a student of Nagasawa. After he left Nagasawa, he opened Reminton Cycle in Maebashi, Gunma. but he died recently, and that is why you are not allowed to use Reminton for Keirin races any more.

very nice frame. many keirin champions were using them.

thank you

thanks a ton for that info. i hadn't been able to find out much about reminton but knew that the studio was no longer making bikes.

NYC

Once the weather gets nice, I'll bring the Noni up and we can go for a ride. I have a more legit mattress for you to crash on next time you come to DC. (but its still just a mattress on the floor)

i really miss my reminton...
