Built this for my sister to ride in Austin, TX around UT because her walmart MTB was falling apart.

It's a pretty weird mix of parts because i pitched the idea of building her a new bike ut our dad wouldn't fund it and told my sister she had to keep riding the walmart bike, so we gradually collected parts using little bits of money our mom slipped us every so often.

The parts came from people on tarckbike, bike friends IRL, and some stuff I already had. Only the saddle, brakes and bar tape came from eBay.

Oh and before you berate me for building up a Colnago like this: I got it as a bare frame and fork. The previous owner had it stripped and got it chromed after a repair was done to patch a hole in the DT that happened during blasting, probably because of a rust spot. The chrome job is sub-par and he only got it chromed to cover the crappy brazing on the DT. It has some light rust issues and there are several small dents, but was ultra cheap and feels solid.

I rode it for a week or so before giving it to my sister and I really didn't want to give it up. She says it gets a lot of attention in Austin and she gets offers from people to buy it all the time.

People who friended this bike the rabbi, leeloo, CONDENADO, Skils391, ArtBlur, craiglowery, remotephone, knapprobert, wonderkid, yonuncatube

berating did seem appropriate till i read your bad ass story. Nice way to keep this beast in service. if i see this bike around austin, ill make sure i admire it.

Looks great.. polish it up and ride the hell out of it.

Nice find..

Great story on this .. You can use Turtleway Chrome polish to keep it buffed out, it'll take care of the surface rust that may show up. Adding to my cluster.

looking good,

adam. looking real good.
