Beater?

Considering the amount of Paul/Chris King/Brooks/Nitto parts on this Surly frame, I'm not sure that the word "beater" would ever spring to my mind. I am always eager to understand the intricacies of the english language and would be very grateful if you could tell me what adjective would then describe my "beater" bike, fitted with a mix of old Tiagra, Shimano 600, Deore and Tourney components on a plain gauge MTB frame?
