Raleigh Sports

Stock Northroad bars (flipped), currently has a 60mm stem from an old Bianchi

Raleigh

Raleigh forged 26 x 1 3/8

Raleigh forged 26 x 1 3/8 w/ '51 Sturmey Archer AW hub

Raleigh

Brooks B17 saddle, some cheap seat post

MKS platform pedals, stock Raleigh chain

48t Raleigh chainring, 19t Sturmey Archer sprocket

When I bought it, it was all original except that the pump was missing and the grips were some aftermarket sponge grips.
Original parts that are now in storage:
B66 saddle, seatpost, Raleigh block pedals, fenders, rear light bracket, chainguard (with "Vanguard" printed on it), stem

Original parts which I'm still using:
Handlebars, bb, wheels w/ oilers in the hubs, crankset, brakes, cables and housing, front light bracket

New parts:
Brake pads, pedals, toe clips, saddle, seatpost, stem, rack (for a Co Pilot child seat)

Future changes:
Larger sprocket to make riding up hill and bringing my daughter to school easier, maybe some cream Schwalbe tires, one of those Retroled lights, pump, a decent saddle bag, some light fenders. Also, the rack is coming off once my daughter outgrows the seat. Then I'll track down a period correct rack or just won't even use one.

Nice vintage ride.

Old bikes hold a special place in my heart. I especially like the SA shifter- very cool.

awesome

that chainring is amazing.

Is that?

your daughter's artwork behind the bike? My son decided he wanted to do a home make over with a Sharpie in our bedroom....looks very similar!

Yes, that's her work. You

Yes, that's her work. You should see the door. She peeled all of the paint off and drew a person on it. Luckily it's crayon, and the walls and everything else in our crappy apartment has about 30 layers if paint on them anyway.

very nice

way to keep it original it looks great! Just throw some freddy fenders on it and it will be grand.

Thanks. The Raleigh made

Thanks. The Raleigh made components are built so well, as long as I maintain them, I don't see any reason to replace anything other than to preserve them. I'm going to get some fenders soon, I just want to find some that will be light and look seamless without spending too much.
