Awesome

I would be really interested to know how this does on the track. Be sure to let us all know when you finish it!

can you email me

can you email me instructions on how to make one of these? or tell me where I can learn how to do this? thanks. You have very awesome skills.

If on sale

If on sale how much would a frame like this retail for? and can the bamboo be sanded to a more tube like look?

You can't really sand down

You can't really sand down the tube to make it more rounded, I think that would just weaken it too much. The nodes along the tube are actually solid wood, but I'd be afraid that they'd snap there if you smoothed them down. And you loose the nice outer finish that bamboo naturally has. I think part of the appeal of bamboo as a frame building material is the natural variation of bamboo. No two frames will ever be the same. And as for a price, what you're paying for with a bamboo frame is just labor cost. I'm guessing that a frame like this would retail around 00, so comparable to a good steel frame.

im digging all of your

im digging all of your bikes, love the concept, but could you explain how you worked in the headset and bottom bracket, did you use insert inside the bamboo shoots?

The headtube and bb are made

The headtube and bb are made of steel, or titanium depending on the frame. As well as the dropouts. The metal is first wrapped with kevlar to prevent corosion between the carbon and metal. The bamboo tubes are then mitered to fit together and the joints are wrapped with carbon. Using metal for the headtube and bb make it so that you can just press a headset in same as you would on any other bike.
