Bought this quite cheaply in a bit of a state. Had been converted to Shimano 600 STI with double Spinergys (which looked quite rad!), with nasty chopped bars.

In its first incarnation it might have had the full Edco Competition group set as it still has a few bits left on it, which are super cool.
It belonged to a Belgium pro who raced it on the European circuit before selling it to a Kiwi triathlete in the mid 90s and then sat in an attic for 8 years.

Building it up bit by bit as I find the odd part here and there from roughly the right era.

No idea what these frames were actually called so any info greatly appreciated.

if you ever need... i got a edco hubset (both 18 spoke) wich you can have for free (+postage)...

Good lord, that's a

Good lord, that's a beautiful color combination. The frames are called time trial, ran I think between late 80's to mid 90's. I'm pretty sure after 91 92 they switched to 700c front ends. I have a 1988 Ciocc PDM team time trial bike. Unfortunately I don't enough money to build it up with the wonderful parts that you have. I have on some newer nitto bullhorns, but the la's look stunning. Definitely next on my list.

dude i know it s a time

dude i know it s a time trial frame. ha ha. just wondered what the specific Merckx model was called. someone pointed it out below though. cheers. tbh, i haven t spent much money on parts, just had some lucky finds and swaps. thats why it takes so bloody long to get her finished. need that aero campy brakeset!

nice! hope to see it around

nice! hope to see it around Auckland - i've just finished a Gazelle Champion mondial with period Chorus groupset... what sort of brakeset are you looking for? may have some contacts. J

Good to see that you build it up with parts it deserves!

I have a newer version of it

I have a newer version of it and it´s called corsa extra. Doesnt have the right forks though.

Wienmann colour scheme.

I had a 1987 'Strada' road frame version in the same colours which were for the Weinmann team in the late eighties. The frame was in great condition but it was too big for me, otherwise it would have been a keeper. The paint job was just stunning with the pearlescent white(very popular at the end of the eighties), topped by the electric blue with dashes of lime green and magenta separating them. I consider it to be one of the most striking colour schemes for Eddy Merckx bikes.

The forks look correct to me and from the reference picture I have, the groupset on a professional team bikes were either Edco or the Regina America groupsets. I will try to upload it if I can but I am a newbie to this site.

Hope this helps.
