Michel Race Frame (Fontenay-sous-Bois, Paris, France), Columbus SL tubing, full Campagnolo Groupset 2006. Michel was one of the top frame builders for Tour de France in Paris during the 60’s and 70’s. This is an extremely rare race bike built for the Tour de France in 1982, but never raced. It originally had gold pin-striping around the lugs. The frame was repainted and I redid the pin-striping in silver, which looked much better. This was my main training bike that I used with cycle clubs for more than 10 years. After some time, the chrome started to flake with surface rust below. I re-chromed the fork and rear triangle, and powder coated the frame in black silver sparkle, however, the lugs were not redone. The IRD handlebars were sanded with a buffing machine and polished by hand to keep everything silver. The bike was refitted with a brand new Campy Centaur groupset and new wheels in 2007 and was ridden a few times more on weekends. It is still as snappy and lively as the first day I rode it.
