Bike was bought off of Craigslist for 80 dollars and was a rust bucket. Frame and Forks we stripped and powder coated. All pin-striping was done by hand. Future upgrades, rebuild wheels with Ti spokes and Phil Wood Hubs, Carbon forks and Carbon Bars. Weighs 12lbs. now hoping to get it to 10lbs or under with the future upgrades.

10 pounds

If you are serious about getting this down to 10 pounds you'll have to use 20" sew ups with slick tires- panaracer or tufo- and probably Ti spokes- lighter brake, Aluminum brake studs, Snap cranks, Ti BB aluminum crank bolt, canti bolts, seat and brake lever hardware, a Dia-compe mx 122 lever, Light hubs, and last but not least- a redline R6 fork- 15 oz or redline carbon micro fork- 15 oz. or ligther but will raise your front end unless you chop the legs- old bombshell tribal carbon with the round legs- under 13 oz. BTW- I have all these parts- Oh and a powerlight ultra mini, bombshell or sinz carbon handlebar. Oh and exustar pedals with ti spindles from Jersey cycles.

That aside, it looks pretty sweet, I'm just confused by a mini bmx bike with skinny tires and a zero offset stem

Skinny Tires...

This bike will be used as a BMX racetrack bike by my 4 year old son.

Skinny tires are for mini and micro mini bmx race bikes and are a standard in that racing class. BMX bikes that usually have weight limits around 90lbs. 90lbs assuming the kid's a racer, not a thrasher.

Great story and cool build -

Great story and cool build - the paint job looks fantastic

If you are going for wieght savings don't use the phils, low flange campy or dura ace are way lighter or check out zipps hubs.

Great Suggestion! I'll look into it. Thanks!
