If you are in the Philly area (I live in NJ just across the river from Philly), you are more than welcome to take it out for a ride.

Great to see another Jackson SWB I've have one of it's twins since 1976, still ride it occasionally.

The dual-mixte tubes - that's wild stuff.

I had always heard them

I had always heard them called spaghetti straps.

They are very skinny

Do you know whether they're hollow tubing, or solid rods?

(okay, so HTML stuff doesn't work in the subject line)

They are hollow.

They are hollow.

now that is absolutely

now that is absolutely phenomenal. thanks for sharing :)

sick

sick paint job! sick tandem!

Merçi!

When I got the bike it had a really boring and poor quality paint job that didn't last at all, so I had a shop colleague of mine, Tony "Mozam" Beek, paint the frame back in the early 80's. Fades were in then, and I liked the rastafarian color scheme.

ya man

I don't immediately love the rasta colour scheme, but the fades are so beautiful that I am won over completely. The small wheelbase makes great sense. I have not seen that gearing setup with the captain having a direct chain to the rear wheel. Makes for a long chain. Is there some advantage to it? Beautiful bike.

The fades were really "in"

The fades were really "in" when I had it repainted in the early 80's. I was working for a framebuilder at the time and I left the paint scheme up to the painter.

The front drive set-up allows you to use all three chainrings with each of the 5 cogs of the freewheel, which is not be possible with such a short chainstay length and such large chainrings, especially not with stiff vintage chains. It also makes shifting/trimming the front derailleur much easier. You don't need input from the stoker.

That paint job is sooo rad!

That paint job is sooo rad! This bike in general.
