Hey guys, I tried searching but came up with nothing. I've got what I think is a 1978 Schwinn Varsity and am converting it to single speed for bombing the streets of ATL. I hit a snag today once I got the Truvativ BB Amer. --> Euro conversion kit shipped in....it doesn't fit...at all. The bearing races keep it from being in the sleeve, are they removable? It looks like there's a possibility of simply using a tap & hammer and sliding it out. This is my first single speed conversion so I'm really lost at this point. I hate it b/c I already painted the bike, thinking the hard part was done. Any info and help is greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the bearing races that are press fit in the frame for the one-piece cranks and bottom bracket? Yeah you tap them out with a hammer and a drift (socket extension, old bolt, whatever)

Then, go find an old 3 piece crank bb from a bmx bike from the 80s.
