First: I am not old enough to remember. The first movie I remember is RoboCop. It was pretty fantastic, but mostly because of the background music.
Last: Fargo
Everything since Fargo has been a huge let down, except for the Big Lebowski, which comes in close second. -

OLD: Metropolis -- but it was just imitating Robot Holocaust IMHO...
NEW: Melancholia -- but as an example of exploiting the medium, which that particular director does very well,-sometimes. (EDIT - forgot "NEW") -

Definitely the first. Apocalypse now is a great movie. Jurassic Park ruled to. -

I thought it was Shaving?...
Honestly, I'm a big fan of Conan the Barbarian 1985. All the sets were fully built, all the stunts were all real, Arnold was a cartoon character playing a comic book character, James Earl Jones speaks, it has some subtle humor, and the OST was equally epic :)
The last great movie I saw was 'Let the Right One In' -

First: Blade Runner
Last: District 9
Both great films. Waiting for the sequel to D9 but its a long way off, the alien weaponry is phenomenal. Blade Runner still looks the biz even today. -

I also enjoyed Death Race 3000 (not to be confused with Death Race). That was such a great movie.
