    That's my bike.

I need some advice on the aesthetics.
I am getting gold drops w/ white tape and a gold sugino messenger crank.
But I'm thinking of replacing my gold dv's. Im thinking of getting a black wheelset, not a dv.

What do you think I should do? Replace the gold dv's with black dv's or just black wheels(non dv). Or save up for like a trispoke or something? I don't ride on the velodrome just around town and critical mass, stuff like that. But I am trying to ride a little more.

So what should I do? And what're some good wheelsets for slightly cheap?
    Thanks.

Build it up how ever you like it. My taste vs your taste in components will be different. Not being mean or anything but above stated eww. When I build up my bikes I look at alot of other peoples builds and get inspired to build it a certain way.

This site is essentially a porn site for bike fetishists. It's not as though you have a rare or hard to find frame, so do what Benny says and look around. Once you get some ideas, then come back here, TO THIS THREAD, and ask actual questions.

Cheap wheelset? Weinmanns are pretty cheap. 200 for a set And I personally don't really dig the gold. It's too flashy for me. Also I would go with drops. I don't think risers suit aluminum frames like those

i don't think it's actually possible to provide "advice on aesthetics". you are going to have to develop your own tastes. if you want practical advice (like in your "ride more" thread), then ask those kind of questions directly. you'll get lots of useful replies that way.

what makes this topic so volatile is that a lot of persons make choices on components purely as a matter of taste. but the choices have practical implications, too, that weren't taken into consideration and what you end up with is a bike that you think looks groovy, but isn't so great to ride any more. it's uncomfortable and you don't know why. or it handles like crap and you don't know why. or you keep breaking spokes and you think you need a different rim, or a different hub, or different spokes. or more spokes, or fewer spokes. that's why riders who have a lot of experience working on bikes get so tired of aesthetic questions; they woud rather help you to get your bike to work right.

Well, I was pretty much inspired by this bike: http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/unknown-bike-co-lv2-4089

I found it while I was looking for pictures of my frame, which is the same one he has ^
I want a build pretty much like this, except a white seat, white fork, and white bar tape. And gold seatpost.

What do you think? And do you think dv's will look better?

your gold wheels are like super deep v's..

i would get rid of the gold wheels, and like cheytac said "its too flashy"

I know, I'm thinking Velocity Aeroheads, they seem pretty good and cheap.

Function > Aesthetics. If I was you I'd go with silver components (seat post, stem, wheels, etc). And low profile rims like Mavic OP would be a better choice than Veep D's. They just add unnecessary weight.

unfortunately, i think to get better aesthetics you need a a frame that fit smaller. Flip stem and shorten. go with low profile wheels, ditch the deep v's

Silver? I think it'd look kinda weird with white :\
And Mavic OP's are a bit out of my price range.

    And my frame fits perfectly. It's 58cm and I'm 5'8" with a 33" inseam.

Mavic OP laced to formula costs about the same as deep v laced to formula if you get prebuilt ones... Hmmm I think white frame with all black components looks sexy (I did this with my Pista Concept). And if you are 5'8 I doubt a 58 would fit you perfectly... I'm 5'10 and my 55 Concept fits me perfectly... you dont have much seat post showing and the stem is angled pretty high.

My legs are kinda long, that's why.
But ya, I think the 58 fits me perfectly, and I got it since I'm not getting another from any time soon so, even if I grow, it'll still fit me.

do you think you'll grow another 4 or 5 inches anytime soon? a proper fitting frame will feel better than what you're riding and will be better for your body

Definitely, I've been growing a lot lately. But right now, it still feels good, my legs extend fully and I have no trouble getting on and getting off.

Edit: maybe not 4-5 inches, but a few more.

well i guess if it feels good then that's fine. others will still tell you to get a smaller frame
