hey i'm trying to fit a durace 7410 crank onto an italian threaded bottom bracket. In the manual or guides it says that there was specifically a 7410 bb that was designed for the crank, but when i look it up it says they were only made with english cups. Has anyone here sucessfully run a Dura ace 7410 bottom bracket on an italian thread, i guess you'd have to use different cups or so but has it been done?

if you have one you'd like to sell i'd definitely be interested, i believe they were 103 mm spindles

pulled up the velobase on the bottom bracket, http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=3c7bf706-c35a-4180-8235-d7fbe74f9ab5&Enum=119

and i see no reason you shouldn't be able to use it with any italian thread JIS tapered 103 bottom bracket. it does say they did in fact produce an italian thread version though. I would just make sure you have a bottom bracket in a JIS taper, and not ISO.

kool, thanks!, i've located and english version, do you think it would be as easy as buying italian cups and just switching them over and having the bb work flawlessly ?

Probably not. A British/French/Swiss BB shell is 68mm wide; an Italian BB shell is 70mm wide. The bearing faces on a spindle for an Italian BB are spaced 2mm further apart; if you used a British spindle, you'd have to crank the NDS cup further in to get the load right on the bearings. Effectively, you'll be bringing your non-driveside crankarm way in, which may put it clanking on your chainstay.

You might get away with it, but don't get your hopes up.

just so you guys know, i did locate an italian cup, and with the 7410 series the bottom brackets are sealed with cup that are removable, so you can switch the sealed units onto italian cups, i did have an italian full unit as well and compared them to each other after i removed the cups from each one. I took the micrometer and made some measurements and the sealed units are identical, u can see that when they are placed side by side, u don't need a micrometer to do that.

anyways thanks for the help, my build is complete now and i'm gonna shoot photos for velospace soon! more bike porn to come :)
