Hey, those track bars were pretty neat, but now I can't find them. How about we start a thread full of cool and unusual handlebars?

    I'll start with my Mantis:

I think you've won already, buddy. I did come across this bike a few hours ago.. It's pretty weird:

Great idea. I've been meaning to start a cool handlebars thread for awhile now.

These suck so hard. Way to ruin the point of track drops.

The only cool handlebars I can think off hand are:

the old Cinelli ONCE team TT bars as seen here:

Nitto ADB-X's (I'd probably get these if I was still dumb and into sweet fixies).

The Shimano/PRO Carbon Missle TT bars:

I still like RB021s, Deda Pista bars, Deda Akros 31s, but those are pretty common (maybe less so for Akros)

Zero rise/drop tourist bars from an exercise bike.

I did not like them on my track bike. Sitting upright on a track bike is like sitting on a jackhammer. I think they'd be comfortable if they were used with a sprung saddle, and this is probably true for any handlebar that gives you an upright riding position.

What is the point of track drops, anyway? And how do those ruin it?

That's really cool. I've poked at exercise bikes in the past, but have never found any parts remotely scavengeable before.

They are similar to the bars made by NAKED also.

That's the first discussion you participated in? Damn, Internet time is compressed.

    Yes, it's the same bike.

    Also from Naked:

My sweet-meat Cinelli "Colorado" bar/stem combo.

They were made for the '84 World Championships in Colorado Springs, I had the opportunity to buy a set last summer and did!

(currently on display at Vecchio's in Boulder)
