So the other day while i was riding along and needed to stop, i pulled to skid and my right foot just came completly out of my cages.
luckily i knew how to skid ambidextrous so i stopped and checked out my right side pedal and saw that this had happend:

Yet happened to me after riding last winter. Mine were Origin-8s though. The leather just gave up.

i would definitely email him and explain to him the situation. i have had several questions for him and he (dustin) typically gets back to you super quick.

Take a look at the pedal body where the strap passes through. A lot of castings have a sharp, unfinished edge that can slice through the strap. If that's the case then file smooth all of the edges that the straps make contact with before installing new ones.

I've worked with a few outsourced programmers for some web work and I can tell you that yeah, you might not pay a lot for development and it "more or less works", but you have to sit there for about 8 hours (if not more) fixing their coding mistakes/terrible CSS layout skills.

    Perhaps a brake?

Holdfast are the only thing I would ever consider using without a brake.
They really are worth it if you aren't using a brake.

If anything in your drive train fails, you are totally fucked man, that includes your pedals, cages, straps, cranks, chainring, chainring bolts, chain, rear cog, chain tensioners, lockring and wheel.

That's alot of stuff to depend on when you could just ride a brake.

That's not how you install double straps.
If installed like that, you wouldn't be using to its full potential.
Here's how it's supposed to look

It should feel like they're hugging on to your feet with no play at all.
( btw, I'm the one that sold you the GT )

how did you get your cadence straps on to the mks sylvan? please answer
  6.
odd that the inside strap broke when the outside generally bears a lot more stress.
