yea sorry guys i didn't write its and no my professor. he doesnt discuss his beliefs but im very confidant his is very catholic, he seems to appose gay marriage, gambling, and pornography.
  5.
    Too bad.

    S_D, that's just a regular archaic spelling.
  6.
Oh, I know, I just don't see many people spell it that way anymore. Especially a college professor.

Finished. There sure are a lot of radioactive loaded questions, though...

Posted By: suicide_doorsOh, I know, I just don't see many people spell it that way anymore. Especially a college professor.

If memory serves, the last several US censuses (censi? Is "census" a Greek or a Latin word?) used that spelling. The Census Bureau uses "Moslem" in a 1997 abstract recommending changes to race categorization. But they're using "Muslim" in the current Statistical Abstract.

Doesn't really matter; there's no correct way to spell Muslim/Moslem in Latin letters, because the word's transliterated from Arabic, a Semitic laguage written in an alternate alphabet which has entirely different rules. There's no correct way to spell Jewish or Hebrew either, for exactly the same reason. Yiddish, OTOH, is an Indo-European language (with Hebrew and Turkish loanwords) written with the Hebrew alphabet; it's possible to spell Yiddish words in/correctly.

EDIT: I now realize that my last sentence is unclear. Properly, it should be: "Yiddish, OTOH, is an Indo-European language (with Hebrew and Turkish loanwords) written with the Hebrew alphabet, whose closest relative is German, which is written in Latin letters; it's possible to spell Yiddish words in/correctly transliterated in Latin letters, if you assume German spellings as the base."

    (eaglerock: Yours for lexical clarity)
  7.
Right, but again, it's just funny to me that he would choose the non-standard spelling. It's like when my wife doesn't like someone she'll never use their name, she just says "that girl" and expects me to know who she is talking about. I hate that, by the way.

So the professor built the survey and he forces each student to get 30 people to fill it out? Thats quite the scam he has going to save time and money for his research. I think his data is going to be skewed though. Some of the questions were not specific enough for me to understand (school prayer) and some didnt give complete options (no "independent" option in the political affiliation question).

p.s. Your professor is probably going to be in a bad mood when the LGBT conference comes to your campus. Heads up.
  8.
Yeah. I'm an independent, and that wasn't an option. I put "third party".

"Jewish" and "Hebrew" are English words. "Yehudi" and "Ivrit" are approximate transliterations of the Hebrew words, but they have actual English standards because they're common.

Because Arabic doesn't have written vowels at all (Hebrew uses them optionally where absolute clarity is required, like on street signs), and because Arabic is spoken by people in so many countries in such a large span of cultures, the pronounced vowels drift around a lot.

In Hebrew, the pronunciation of the vowels falls along two lines, really: Ashkenazik (TAWra) and everyone else (toRAH). It depends on who you're trying to associate yourself with or separate yourself from, really.
  9.
Oh good, it looks like we've successfully stopped people from taking the survey.

He's very right wing if you couldn't tell with all the leading questions and the data would be useless unless he was aiming for a specific outcome. and i agree the questions are pretty bad.

Don't listen to these guys still take the survey i need more responses for full credit!

  10.
Yeah, I wasn't really thinking that he was a liberal much.
  11.
Hey, more data will show how screwed up his questions are. Take the survey, by all means!
