some things about the way new bikes and components are being built just pisses me off. i hate 1 1/8 headtubes and forks. they look rediculous on bikes with standard size tubing. even on alot of bikes with oversized tubing they can look wrong. hand in hand with that are threadless stems. they just ruin the smooth lines of a bike. i'm not asking what other people think about this im just saying that i dont like them, and i'd like to see what other people dont like about new bikes/components. bitch away

This has got to be the platypus of the new bike world, its hard to believe a company is actually making these and bike shops are stocking them:

Thin tires, 700c, disc brakes, head-tube suspension shock, weird compact geometry, black on black logos, what the fuck? Nothing about this bike makes sense. Its a hybrid between a crappy xc mountain bike and a flat bar commuter, with a healthy dose of "lets include one of everything" sense.

I really hate old school track frames with flat bars and bandannas on the top tube. I think a bike should be what it's made for, a 3Rensho should have Araya rims and steen drop bars. It's fine if yo want a fixie commuter, but buy an IRO for that. And seriously. Pista Concepts with flat bars? The next time I see one I am going to vomit.

I agree with all the above comments. Especially bikes as furniture/status symbols. When I see Bareknuckles, I chuckle. Nice frame, but it's an over priced way to say that "I ride a fixie, I'm a badass."

A bicycle is the reflection of your personality and your sole, definitely not status. When you'll grow up and drive a Porsche then it will be your social status.

A bike can surely be used as a status symbol. For instance, a Porsche compared to a Dodge Aires. A poor person drives an Aires, whereas someone who is a dentist will drive a Porsche. I ride a Kilo TT because I can barely afford to go to school, eat and get places. Somebody who rides a Pista Concept or a Bareknuckle that costs as much as three months of my rent, then that is a status symbol.

A bike is an object you use to transport yourself, how you ride it is a representation of the dedication you have to riding. That's what represents your soul.

bikes for the sake of status and commercialism

cheap ass frames with high end components and rich ass kids who started using these bikes to identify themselves as some type of arrogant bike specialist or as part of some secret "Fixie community"

lil ass kids that defend those commercial ass bikes

people who think a better bike means a better cyclist

Don't get me wrong. Nothing against people who ride whatever and are respectful about it. I ride track but I do not consider myself to be part of the "Fixie community" only because I sometimes ride a track bike on the road. I also do not like to wear skinny jeans or cut off dickies and I would not enjoy riding a disc on the road in the windy city. I am also not a big fan of flannel shirts and funky anodized hardware components.

No dude, haven't you heard of the Fixtheory?

If gear inches is g, and penis length (also in inches) is l, then .1g=1l. So somebody with a 90 gear has a nine inch penis. That makes them super cool.
