Take a look at velospace's social network as of Wednesday June 21, 2006. All of the circles represent users on this site. The lines between the circles represent the friend connections between users. The arrows indicate which way the friendship was made. Click a few times on the map to start

For example, take a look at Lupin's Chinelli Olympic, and then look at his slice of the social network graph:

Each arrow pointing in to the circle comes from a user who has added one of his bikes as a friend. Each line moving out from the circle points to a user Lupin added as a friend.
At the time this graph was made there were over 1500 friend connections to map. It took about 15 minutes to render the graph, zoom way in and check out some of the detail! I am working on rerendering the graph to include usernames instead of user ID numbers. If you are logged into velospace you can find your user ID number by click on "user settings" on the left and looking at the number after "/user/" in the URL. For instance my link is http://velospace.org/user/1, which makes my user ID 1. If you root around enough you can find your own number in the graph and see your social network.
