I knew I shouldn't have gotten this frame as I had previous knowledge of working with Nottingham Raleigh BB threading and getting a good chainline (I didn't want to spend 0 on Phil Wood BB setup & I didn't know re-tapping to 24 TPI would work), but I plunked down for the frame & fork at The Bike Pirates in T.O. 'cuz the size & geometry was perfect (tall seat-tube, short-ish top-tube). I didn't read the caveats for the YST compression BB either. The BB shell was narrowed from 73mm to 67mm and the inner edges were chamfered by hand by me all to make the chainline work. Its a beautiful riding bike well worth the effort. Yes, the stem is a bit high - as the season wears on and my belly shrinks, the stem drops to a more normal elevation. ;)

i have a 71 Nottingham Grand Prix and i have been trying to find out info on the bottom bracket and what is best to replace the original 26 TPI BB with. Did you have your BB re tapped to 24 TPI?

26 TPI Nottingham threading

Howdy,
No, I didn't get the BB re-tapped to 24 TPI - didn't know I could. :P
That might be the best option. If I did it over again that's what I'd do. Check with a few bike shops to make sure they're on the same page.
If you got $, you could get the Phil Wood Nottingham threaded rings and use a Phill BB.
If its chainline issues you are trying to fix and you have access to old assorted BB spindles you can mix & match if your cups are ok.
I used a YST compression BB which does not need threads in the shell but A) I'm lead to believe those are hard to come by, and B)The BB shell needs to be prepared using a special, expensive tool at certain shops - or you can do like me and spend a few hours with a Dremel, an angle grinder, calipers, and a half-round file to fit it.
The frame I have is a beaut'. If yours is anything like mine its pretty well made and a very decent ride. I'd say get it re-tapped to 24 TPI.
